Over 50 years ago, Canadian Furniture Leasing was founded by Arthur Miller, who pioneered furniture rental as a viable industry in Canada. Originally it was servicing the many veterans who returned from Europe and the Far East with easy access to acquiring home furniture with no credit. Purchase options on rentals were implemented to create such ease.
From an 800 square foot showroom on Bloor Street, in Toronto, to a 10,000 square foot on King St. West, in the downtown core, Canadian Furniture Leasing experimented with office furniture rentals and suddenly found itself a main supplier of rental furniture to the Federal and Provincial Government, law firms, accounting and just as it had with residential furniture, they assisted new companies with little credit in acquiring furnishing with terms.

In the 1990’s, Canadian Furniture Leasing changed its name to Executive Furniture Rentals to better reflect its market.
In addition, Mark Miller became President and shortly afterwards purchases its present showroom/warehouse facility.
The early 21st. century brings changes to the furniture rental market. The demand for higher quality furnishings allows Executive Furniture Rentals to become a better resource to designers and facility managers. Furthermore, Home Staging explodes into a thriving industry and Executive Furniture Rentals becomes a preferred resource to many home stagers and real estate professionals.

In 2003, Executive Furniture Rentals is asked, and accepts, to join Cort Furniture Rental’s Global Network, an association of over 50 countries offering furniture rental to multi-national companies and international relocation services. Executive Furniture Rentals becomes Cort’s (a Berkshire Hathaway company) Canadian service provider.
Subsequently, Executive Furniture Rentals creates a larger Canadian presence, establishing a national network to service not only central Canada but also western and eastern regions.

Throughout the decade, Executive Furniture Rentals grows by supporting the corporate housing provider industry, home staging, as previously mentioned, special events and temporary office furnishing market. Just within the last two years, Executive Furniture Rentals has been able to furnish, for example, two complete floors of a major downtown Toronto corporate tower, specifically used as a temporary swing space, 40 temporary residential suites in Alberta, 150 high back leather chairs for a one day corporate event, not to mention the many temporary homes for CEO’s and Presidents of Canada’s top 100 major corporations.
